Scott Norris hit the century mark with his 100th pin Wednesday vs. Wakefield. Scott goes 5 and 0 at the Black Knight Duals where he beat Luis Ramos the 3A nuber 2 ranked wrestler 2 to 1. Great job Scott and congrats from Coach Bunn and Gursslin.
 
 

Varsity Match of the Week

December 3rd

Brett Farina receives the Varsity Match of the week for his match vs. Joel Barnett from Davie County on Sat. Dec. 1st 2007. Brett pull off probably the biggest victory of his career when he beat Joel Barnett 6 to 4 at the Black Knight Duals. Barnett was the 2007 State 4A runner up at 135lbs. Great job brett and we want to see you at the State Tournament in February.

Brett Farina recieves the Varsity wrestler of the week. Brett went a perfect 5 wins and 0 losses this week. Brett also moved up to the 2nd ranked wrestler by the Super 32 at 140lbs. Great job Brett and congrats from Coach Bunn and Gursslin.

December 10th

Matt Bell receives the match of the week for his impressive performance against Broughton HS. Matt trailed early in the match but came back to pin his opponent from Broughton. Excellent match and an awesome job of showing a no quit attitude. Great job Matt and congrats from Coach Bunn and Gursslin.

Collin Eastwood receives the match of the week for his impressive 5 to 3 victory over Justin Ferrell from CB Aycock who was the number 2 seeded wrestler in the Beddingfield Tournament. The win put Collin into the finals. Great job Collin and congrats from Coach Bunn and Gursslin.

Kenny Buchanan receives the most Outstand Wrestler of the week for his dominating performance at the Gleen Quad. Kenny pinned 2 of his opponents and set the school record for the fast tech fall by beating his opponent 17 to 2 in 1 minute and 48 seconds. Great job Kenny and congrats from Coach Bunn and Gursslin.

Pedram Rahmatabadi for winning the 135lbs weight class at the Capital City Classic and improving his record to 45 wins and only 7 losses.
 
  Brett Farina for winning the 140lbs weight class at the Capital City Classic and improving his record to 44 wins and only 6 losses.  
  Miles Shaw for winning the 160lbs weight class at the Capital City Classic and improving his record to 48 wins and only 2 losses.  
  Chris Godfrey for winning the 112lbs weight class at the Capital City Classic and improving his record to 28 wins and 9 losses  
  Matt Gardner for winning the 119lbs weight class at the Capital City Classic and pinning all 5 of his opponents. Matt also received the tournament's Award for most pins in the fastest amount of time.  
  Alex Chapla for winning the 152lbs weight class at the Capital City Classic and improving his record to 29 wins and 10 losses.  
  Collin Eastwood for winning the 112lbs weigh class at the Capital City Classic.  
  Phillipe Wouters for winning the 152lbs weight class at the Capital City Classic.  
  Stephen Brown for winning the 171lbs weight class at the Capital City Classic .  
  Nate Reynolds for winning the 189lbs weight class at the Capital City Classic.  
 

Varsity Match of the Week

January 27th

Brett Farina for his outstanding performance against Jake McKay from West Forsyth. Brett's 6 to 5 victory over McKay sealed the 140lbs championship at the Capital City Classic.

 
 

Varsity Wrestler of the Week

February 3rd

Preston Mitchum was Green Hope's only Regular Season and Conference Tournament Champion. Preston finished the Tri-8 Season at a perfect 7 wins and 0 losses. He followed up his pefect conference season by winning the Conference Championship at 215.

Kenny Buchanan pulled off a major victory when he defeated Cary's Ronnie Winterton to claim 3rd place in the 125lb weight class at the Tri- 8 Conference Tournament.
